Secondhand electric vehicle (EV) sales helped the UK’s used car market grow for the sixth successive quarter, figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show.
Although new car sales in the UK rose 2.5% in July, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has reduced its expected total new car sales for 2024.
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) ended the year strong with its highest market share in December as one in three cars where EVs, according to New AutoMotive.
“Continued progress in the sale of electric vehicles (EVs) needs to be supported by faster deployment of charging infrastructure, which is falling behind,” said the Climate Change Committee (CCC) in its latest Progress Snapshot.
An International Energy Agency (IEA) report has found electric vehicle (EV) sales doubled in 2021, while the organisation is forecasting an increase in global renewable capacity of 8% in 2022.
