Octopus Energy has called on the National Grid ESO to stop burning coal and instead use consumer energy consumption flexibility to reduce demands on the energy grid.

Octopus Energy has announced that its customers collectively shifted 1.86GWh of electricity demand throughout its 13 ‘Saving Sessions’.

National Grid ESO has revealed the next Demand Flexibility Test scheduled for 22 November between 17:30 and 18:30.

​Octopus Energy customers provided 108MW of grid flexibility during its first Saving Sessions period, according to the company.

The first alert for National Grid ESO’s demand flexibility service has been confirmed for 15 November between 17:00 and 18:00.
