Software platform manager ESG has reached its 10 millionth smart meter under management via its uSmart platform in the UK.
The number of smart meters it manages has more than doubled since 2020 and currently represents more than 40% of the UK’s total smart meters live with the Data Communications Company (DCC).
Moreover, ESG’s platform, uSmart, has managed over 2.8 billion messages since 2019. Data traffic over the smart meter network is set to increase 500% over the next four years, according to DCC.
Matt Hirst, CEO of ESG, said: “Smart metering is the cornerstone of our journey to net zero – helping consumers reduce their energy bills by managing their costs with clear visibility.”
Meanwhile, smart meter rollout in October continues its growth with 218,000 installs in GB last month, according to ElectraLink.
For a third month in a row, installation of smart meters were higher than in the corresponding months in 2021.
As shown in the chart above, October was the second highest month only behind March, when it installed 224,000 smart meters.
So far this year almost two million smart meters have been installed, while the one million mark was achieved in June 2022. Since the programme started in 2012 19.3 million smart meters have been installed in GB.
The regions with the highest installation figures for October 2022 were East England (31,000), Southern England (24,000) and the East Midlands (21,000), the regions that typically have the highest monthly installations, according to ElectraLink.
