Smarter Grid Solutions (SGS) is launching its Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) Customer Portal in the US following a successful rollout in the UK.
Currently both Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) and UK Power Networks use the portal to support operational utility.
Now SGS is expanding its operations in the US, to allow utility customers to use the portal, which will give them access to the service desk directly to log incidents and issues. This is designed to make the process more efficient, and allow support and engineering staff to prioritise their time.
The portal combines a number of data sets that can be customised to the specific client, so that they can access network, customer and DER data, as well as periodic reports, technical documents and manuals. This data is then displayed on a dashboard, giving the customer instant access.
Euan Davidson, executive director at SGS, said that the company was on “the cusp” of launching the portal in the US after “excellent” feedback in the UK.
“Clients are asking for increased visibility through our DERMS platform so access to a customer portal is now an essential part of effective service delivery and customer engagement.
“We have exciting plans to expand the range of services that we offer through the portal as well as support our DERMS operational customers in the United States. The transition towards smart, flexible, low carbon electricity places new demands on our utility customers and the portal helps them to serve their customers better”
This isn’t the only area the company is expanding in, announcing at the end of 2019 that it would expand into Europe after a successful trial of dynamic curtailment in Germany.
