An innovation trial led by UK Power Networks (UKPN) in partnership with energy supplier OVO and tepeo, an electric boiler provider, has found that heat battery technology would “significantly” help the UK meet net zero targets by 2050.
ESO, National Grid’s energy system operator arm, has completed the first phase of summer consumer trials with 31 electricity demand shifting events held between May and July.
A report commissioned by UK energy provider OVO Energy has shown that fewer than one in ten people report getting any dedicated green skills training at work, which the company says is a major risk to the net zero transition.
OVO has partnered with manufacturer Vaillant to offer a "best-in-market" heat pump rate of 15p/kWh, which is said to cut running costs by an average of £495 a year.
