“Inefficient and unambitious” government energy efficiency programmes have resulted in an 80% decrease in support available to Brits looking to improve cold properties, according to the Energy Bill Revolution.
The group commissioned a study by the Association for the Conservation of Energy which shows that the number of major energy efficiency measures installed dropped from 112,000 in the winter of 2011/12 to just 22,000 this winter.
As if in response, the government unveiled plans on Thursday to introduce requirements for landlords to raise the energy efficiency rating of their properties to at least Band E from April 2018.
