UK Power Networks has launched a £300,000 fund aimed at supporting community organisations with energy efficiency projects.
The so-called ‘Power Partners’ investment has been timed to coincide with Big Energy Saving Week, which kicks off on Monday (21 January), and will help up to 40 not-for-profit organisations and community groups across UKPN’s service area.
Between £2,000 and £20,000 will be awarded to each recipient to help them become more energy efficient, either by helping them provide essential advice to consumers or to enable insulation, heating or lighting upgrades in properties.
Julie Minns, head of customer engagement at UKPN, said that the fund stood to further enhance the network operator’s support of vulnerable consumers.
“We would particularly like to support projects that support hard to reach or seldom heard communities or can be replicated and scaled up across the whole of London, the South East and East of England,” she said.
